SCHEDULING TIPS
It’s all in the Timing
As you schedule honeymoon travel, keep in mind there are
things you can and can’t control. Here are a few
insights into location research and timing ideas to help
you make sure you are taking your honeymoon at the best
possible time.
Weather Watch
Be sure and carefully consider the season and the weather
when scheduling your honeymoon. Are you planning a first
of August wedding followed by a cruise in the Caribbean?
August in the Caribbean is the beginning of the
rainy season, making the chances of a waterlogged honeymoon
very high. And just because it’s summer in the Northern
Hemisphere, doesn’t promise long, sunny days in
the Southern Hemisphere. Australia and New Zealand enjoy
full summer when Northern Hemisphere countries like the
U.S., Canada and European lands are deep in the dark,
cold days of January and February.
Take time to research the weather of your dream location
and the best times to travel. The better you align your
travel plans with weather forecasts, the better the forecast
for romance will be! Visit weather.com

Spoilers: Events to Avoid
Imagine arriving at your honeymoon destination to discover
that the world’s largest Yodeling & Alpine Horn
Blowing Convention is scheduled for the same week of your
getaway? Or maybe a five-day outdoor heavy metal rock
festival is taking place on the same beach as your dreamy
island resort, promising grating music and drunken partygoers
galore?
Check with our honeymoon experts and your hotel to be
sure there are not loud, obnoxious or enormous events
scheduled during your planned honeymoon period. A little
advance homework on event conflicts can help ensure that
the location you choose looks and sounds like the honeymoon
you imagine.
Rate & Budget Factors
All locations, especially honeymoon destinations, have
high and low seasons. If you want to make the most of
your honeymoon budget, check in to see when rates are
at their highest and why. Oftentimes you can get a great
bargain by traveling just before or just after the high
season, avoiding sky-high rates and floods of tourists.
Consider Family Conflicts
Are there any momentous family events to consider scheduling
around? Will your bride’s one and only sister be
delivering her first child over the two weeks you are
planning to honeymoon? Are the groom’s grandparents
celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary? While there are
plenty of family matters that can be overlooked for a
honeymoon, don’t schedule over anything you might
regret missing. It would be terrible to be out in the
middle of somewhere incredible wishing you were back home
for someone’s important day.
Stay Flexible & True to Your Wants
Just because you marry on June 16, doesn’t mean
you have to be whisked away the next day or even the next
week to your honeymoon hideaway. Plenty of couples find
that putting some time between the wedding and their travels
allows them to take a step back and enjoy the honeymoon
more.
Some couples may want a few weeks to set up their new
homes and new gifts prior to a honeymoon trip. Other couples
may have different visions for wedding and honeymoon magic.
Maybe you want a glorious spring wedding but a fall honeymoon
at the peak of France’s wine harvest season? Why
not! Christmas nuptials but a summertime honeymoon on
Mexico’s magical beaches? Go for it! Don’t
feel locked into the traditional pattern of a wedding
followed right away by the honeymoon. Look at what works
best for you as a couple and schedule based on your goals
and ideas about the idea escape.
